Students in green fleeces wandering the streets of the town during school time

Dear Admin,

I am a citizen living in our small town. Recently I often see students dressed in school branded green fleeces wandering the streets of the town just like stray animals or drinking beer or coffee in the cafes of the town. The problem is that it all happens during school hours. One can see these poor children at any time - 10 AM, 11 AM or at 12 PM. This is the time when these students are supposed to be in the classroom and studying.

I have never seen students from other schools at loose during school time. Even public schools have some protocols for leaving school during school hours. Private schools are expected to have even stricter protocol. Some of these children even look under the age of 18.

I am planning to contact the police in our town to ask for what reasons these young people are not in school and who is responsible for their security during school hours.

Thanks for addressing this for me.

Sincerely

Janice

COMMENT FROM THE ADMIN:

Dear Janice, thanks for pointing this issue! Indeed we have also witnessed plenty of young people, most likely underaged in the streets and the cafes of our town. They are all dressed in branded green clothes resembling the clothes of APBS in the town.

We believe this is due to an issue that we reported earlier. Actually the private British school has a room named Common Room which they use to accommodate 50+ students in a very small space - 30-40 sqm. This is in serious breach and violation of the recent measures introduced by the government.

The school managers - the Hadjimaimouni family have decided to let the children wander the town instead of finding them proper accommodation. AS mentioned in one of our previous articles - the manager keeps an ample luxurious apartment for private needs in the school premises but refuses to provide space for the students to spend their free time. Instead of creating a proper study room for their students these kebap shop owners have decided to let all children out in the town during school hours.

In other words - what happens outside school premises in not their business. But what happens during school hours is their business. Parents are paying massive amounts of money for their children to get proper education and treatment. Instead their children end up drinking coffee, beer or other alcohol drinks in school time, outside the school premises with the knowledge of the school management.

We appeal to the parents to file a complaint to the Ministry of Magic, the municipality and the local police office about the above.

  • My daughter has been attending this school for over a year now.  It is impossible to leave the school during the educational process without the personal presence of the parent and the corresponding entry in the journal.  Therefore, if a child walks in the city, then only the parent himself took him out of school and allowed him to walk around the city.  Yes, our children in the city are very easy to distinguish from the crowd: they have a bright uniform.  Other schools don't have uniforms.  Therefore, you cannot determine the student in front of you or not.  He wears normal casual clothes.  The situation at school today is tense.  Many children and teachers get sick.  But the school tries not to damage the educational process.  Many lessons are taught online.  The whole post smacks of an attempt to damage the reputation of the school.  By no means do I want to say that there are no problems at school!!  But they are no more than other schools.
  • I understand how it looks, but the year 12 and 13 children have free periods in which they go to coffee shops to study instead of being in the common room in order to decrease the risk of catching covid.
The reason why we are allowed to do this is because we have at least 10 teachers that are currently in isolation due to covid, so we are performing online lessons for most of our subjects.
Just to let you know, the students in Greek school are also currently doing this but the reason that you do not recognise that they are students is because they do not wear uniform.
I appreciate the comment but I think contacting the police is a bit extreme as most of the other schools are also doing this currently due to the difficult times of the pandemic.
Bare in mind there will always be students in every school that will somehow take advantage of these new school regulations, to drink beer for example, but as you know these students are in every school.

Kind regards, a student from Aspire School

To Irina: Well that is not the case with Y12 and Y13. We are allowed to exit the school in our free periods because there is no place for us to stay. This has been the going on since January.
  • To Jen: We are in 12th grade.  Without the parent's signature in the journal, we cannot leave the school.  I pick up my child and do this every time if it's before 2 pm.
