Teachers who hardly speak English are hired to teach our children

Dear Page Admin

I hope the below concerns will be published.

I have a child which is an A-Level student. Most of the subjects however are taught by teachers who have serious English speaking issues. Other parents shared with with me that their children were complaining it was hard for them to understand the topics in such a poor language.

The teachers are reported to have very poor salaries. Many of the teachers working in the school are doing this for a few euros per month and have no motivation to improve their skills.

The selection procedure is very compromised. The manager hires mostly young inexperienced ladies but who are also very good looking, said a person who worked for the school.

Hope my email will help.

Best Wishes

  • Bias Teachers That Can't Do Their Job
I am familiar with a number of people who are doing GCSEs at Aspire, and many of them complain about one of the teachers. That teacher poorly speaks and understands English, which leads to students not understanding the topics. Also only answers written in the same form as in the book, otherwise the teacher wont understand it.
That same teacher gives out term grades based on student's behavior in class rather that their actual knowledge. Same goes for the test scores, two students with the same result can have a totally different grade, depending on how much the teacher likes them.
  • There is one particular teacher that covers one of my IGCSE subjects. Every one of us has to pay 250€ to attempt the exam and I can guarantee we will have to pass just by our own knowledge of the subject, as the only things we heard in class for two whole year were copy pasted phrases from Google translator such as: “Ntont touch the computers” “You are mvery disombedient” “You will have an unexpected test of 5 minutes” “I will call Mrs. H” There were multiple occasions when many year groups addressed the problem and spoke up to the principle but (of course) she chose to ignore it and blame it on us.
  • No actually, the art teacher in comparison to other teachers if very supportive of students and actually cares about getting them the greatest grade they can possibly achieve. She is also very helpful when students are in need of advice, undergoing a lot of exam stress and in general struggling with the environmental pressures. She is very talented but at the end of the day the subject is skill based and not much can be taught; especially for older years. With regards to the mural, its not her piece to be interfering with.
